Our Union

Welcome to the AFM Local 132-314 website. Local 132-314 is a small sized Local serving a geographic area which includes but is not limited to the following counties in New York State: All of Cortland, Schuyler, Steuben, Chemung and Tompkins; adjoining portions of Tioga, Livingston, Alleghany, Chenango and Cayuga. Also, Tioga and Bradford counties in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Our mission is to place the interests and well being of our members as the most important priority for our existence. We do that through organizing, collective bargaining and operating a job referral service as well as through legislative and political action.

Our members include musicians who perform with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic and Syracuse Symphony, many freelance musicians who perform in the many other musical venues which include but are not limited to jazz clubs, hotels, club dates, rock, blues, contemporary, country and ethnic musical performances.

We are part of the more than 100,000 member American Federation of Musicians, which unites musicians across the United States and Canada. We are also a part of the 14 million member AFL-CIO. As trade unionists, we believe that workers everywhere have far more in common than what ever issues may divide us. We firmly believe that "an injury to one is an injury to all." As musicians, we are dedicated to the preservation, promotion and advancement of live music and music education.
